CHARACTERISTICS

At each node the stem takes a very different direction giving a slightly zigzag configuration. This peculiarity that found in other species is only noticeable at close range. Under the effect of wind or rain, the end of the stems bend towards the ground.
The nodes are prominent. The rhizomes are provided with air branching species which allow the excess water back into the ground.

CARE

Like all other bamboos, does well in well-drained ground, but is distinguished by its ability to withstand heavy terrain with limited evacuate excess water.

USED

Hedgerows, windbreaks, massive, isolated tufts.
